Valorization of AZ91 by the hydrolysis reaction for hydrogen production (Electrochemical approach)

The hydrolysis of Mg-based materials appears to be an ideal solution for clean energy production. Green hydrogen was produced by the reaction a “standard” AZ91 alloy (called in following) “model” seawater solution. Two milling speeds (i.e. 250 rpm and 350 rpm) were tested enhance reactivity AZ91. Graphite AlCl3 used as ball additives. Milling at higher rotational speed is more energetic, hence it ameliorates most performance Comparing both additives, enhances with generation 65% its theoretical H2 capacity. best material obtained graphite 2 h followed further – yield 75% capacity reached within few minutes. corrosion behavior milled investigated anodic polarization electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). calculated parameters from EIS fitting two under different conditions but same additive are approximately same. This suggests that, order fully evaluate AZ91, hydrolysis, must considered.
